GoKinema 2012

GOKINEMA 2012 – Scandinavian Movement of Cinematic Skills

GoKinema is a vibrant, creative meeting point in Scandinavia for anyone with an interest in networking, knowledge in film, or the latest technology. The event is staged by Gothenburg Film Studios and runs from 27th January - 5th February 2012, parallel to the renowned Göteborg International Film Festival (GIFF).

Filmmakers and film enthusiasts gather from around the world to participate in workshops, visit the technical expo, listen to seminars and experience the Open Set, which is filmed in front of a live audience.

At the Open Set three directors interpret the same script. Together with a cinematographer they have the same crew and sets at their disposal for five and a half hours to shoot a film. The audience is able to follow the entire process from shoot to post production. The scriptwriter for the Open Set in 2011 was the author of 'Let the Right One In', John Ajvide Lindqvist. The script 'Bad Room' resulted in four films, two of them in 3D. We are proud to present the Norwegian auther and scriptwriter Erlend Loe as the 2012 Open Set scriptwriter.

At GoKinema film fans are given the opportunity to experience all aspects of the film industry. Not only can audiences view a live film shoot, they can also try out the Segway or get a feeling for what it’s like to be a stedicam operator. To further emphasize the film experience Gothenburg Film Studios Art Department will demonstrate how fantastic props, like bloody body parts, come to life while GoKinema's seminar program deals with topics such as 3D and scriptwriting.

At the Expo, film professionals meet with technology companies to share knowledge on the latest innovations in technology and development. Combined with GoKinema’s full program, this is the only film technology trade fair of its kind in Scandinavia, a unique opportunity for companies to network and reach out to the market.

GoKinema was met with great enthusiasm in 2011, the event attracted reputable professionals, such as cinematographer Geoff Boyle, up and coming talents from the film world as well as the film interested public.
