French Film Festival Returns to Dundee!

(Titeuf - Dundee Contemporary Arts)

The French Film Festival returns to Dundee Contemporary Arts with another selection of the very best in continental cinema. The festival begins on Thursday 24th November with slapstick dance fantasy The Fairy followed by a Q&A with its stars; a special cheese and wine reception will be held before the screening.

Other screenings include romantic comedies Service Entrance and The Name of Love; kidnap drama Top Floor, Left Wing; and witty political comedy Pater. The Giants is a beautifully-filmed take on the coming-of-age tale by acclaimed director Bouli Lanners, while on Sunday 27th November there’s a chance to catch The Conquest, a highly topical look at Nicolas Sarkozy’s journey to power.

3D animation Titeuf (Saturday 26th November at 1pm) offers something for younger audiences; the film was created with the help of animators from Dundee’s ink.digital, who will attend the screening and give a talk about their work (ink.digital also worked on Sylvain Chomet's Oscar-nominated 'The Illusionist'). On Saturday 3rd December a screening of Louis Feuillade’s silent classic Juvé Against Fantômas will be given a contemporary twist with a live score from Parisian DJs Radio Mentale.

Alice Black, Head of Cinema at DCA, said:

“The French Film Festival is an important fixture in the DCA cinema calendar and we look forward to it every year. We’ve expanded our selection to ten films which showcase the great variety of French-language filmmaking out there in the world.”

The French Film Festival runs at DCA from 24th November – 19th December. Fans of all things French can see any five films in the festival for £25 with a La fete du Cinema passport. Tickets are available from DCA box office on 01382 909 900; for more information visit www.dca.org.uk.
