nordmedia in Cannes 2011

North Sea Screen Partners member nordmedia present at the 2011 Cannes International Film Festival in May.

nordmedia as a part of Focus Germany, the umbrella organization of the German regional film funds, is part of the German Pavilion at the Festival. It is situated in the International Village, a popular platform where accredited festival visitors from the German and international film world can develop personal contacts and exchange news and views. Several funding institutions from Germany are represented in the Pavilion. nordmedia uses the opportunity to promote the region of Niedersachsen and Bremen and to inform about co-production possibilites.

After their arrival in Kabul, three socially-engaged Australian skaters quickly realised that their skateboards have a magnetic attraction on children. After regular skate sessions, they decided in 2008 to launch SKATEISTAN, Afghanistan’s first skateboard school. The film also won the 2011 Cinema for Peace award for most outstanding documentary.

The Big Eden

Rolf Eden is Germany’s last playboy. He is Germany’s discotheque king and a part of the history of Berlin. He organised the first Beauty Queen contest and made striptease popular in prudish West Germany. He partied with Louis Armstrong and Frank Sinatra and danced with Ella Fitzgerald − the film THE BIG EDEN documents his exiting life.
