The Council’s City Development Department continues to devise and implement highly successful strategies to increase investment opportunities in Dundee and enhance the city’s role as a key player in the Scottish economy.

Computer games are a major success story for the city which is regarded as Scotland's leading computer games location as a base for key companies such as Real Time Worlds and Denki. A major contribution comes from the city’s and region’s universities and colleges in developing skills for digital media sectors and producing world-class research and teaching in media production, computing and software development. Dundee was the first city in the world to develop an International Centre for Computer Games at the University of Abertay. Tayside has over 352 companies engaged in creative industries across interactive digital content, media production and post and games.
