Film Tourism Conference Is A Great Success

The recent conference on on the future of film tourism in Denmark and the North Sea Region hosted by North Sea Screen Partners members FilmFyn and Tietgen Business College proved to be very successful and informative.

The conference 'Film Tourism - A New Path for Danish Tourism' attracted Danish and international attendants, including representatives from tourist organisations, the tourist trade, politicians, officials and operators from cultural institutions. The programme of presentations was delivered by international speakers who all have experiences in international film tourism: Katja Oestergaard, CEO of Horesta; Dr. Stefan Roesch,German film tourism expert; Pierre Tolcini, Visit Sweden’s country manager in France; tourism and IT researcher, Mads Boedker; Henrik Moeller from the Danish film production company ASA Film; and head of development at FilmFyn, Julie Lindegaard.

The conference discussed the future of film tourism in Denmark and the North Sea Region, and especially focused on the success of Susanne Bier’s Oscar-winning ‘In A Better World’, shot in Funen, and for which a special iPhone app developed by students at Tietgen Business School was launched at the conference.

Another strong focus of the conference was the importance of relationships between the film industry, tourism agencies, and local infrastructure in sustaining a healthy industry for film tourism, as stressed by Julie Lindegaard: “For now, the most important point is to talk about film tourism and to get in contact with local partners.”
